The Real Me Versus Online Me

I know most of us show many different versions of ourselves depending on who we’re with. We’re different with strangers than we are with acquaintances; we’re different with our parents than we are our close friends. I find it tough from time to time to show who I really am to people I’m not close with (queue the resting bitch face). My shell is a lot tougher than the inside.

I live off of positive energy and I don’t want to give off negative ambiance by posting my problems or issues to the world (i.e. social media) so I think that's a big reason why most of the content I post is funny or cheerful. I try to maintain a balance between being bona-fide and making sure that I don’t come off as if my life is perfect.

In real life I’m usually a glass-half-full, smiley, a bit smartassy and someone who finds comfort in wearing workout gear as much as possible. I’m one of the weirdest people I know and I don’t really portray that online…to its fullest extent. On the other hand, my dogs, Gus & Clara are my life and I think everyone pretty much gets a feel for that! In real life, I’m also very opinionated but I don’t always show that. My life isn’t always glamorous, unless you think riding around in a feed truck feeding hungry momma cows is glamorous ;).

Online I’m still a smartass but just one that shares very few (daring) opinions. I think this stems from the fact that my mom always told me it wasn’t classy to discuss politics or religion in public places. Not that I care if people know whether or not I hang out on the left or right-wing or that I’m a Christian, it’s the fact that I try to steer away from starting or entertaining controversy. Except for one little thing, I can go from sweet-little-girl-scout trying to sell cookies to bat shit crazy in a matter of seconds when it comes to the welfare (or the lack thereof) of animals.

Clara decided to demolish a bowl of baked beans. (I don’t condone this!)

I don’t necessarily mind the divide between my real life and my online life. There are certain things I choose to not discuss/post online that prevent controversy/arguments that save me a lot of heartache and bad vibes; thus resulting in a better real life. :)
