Recent Estate Sale Finds

A friend and I stopped by an estate sale in Bartlesville this week. Wow- did this place have some treasures! We were able to go on the day they “opened” so it hadn’t been scavenged through yet. We found lots of goodies. While walking through the home I noticed a lot of cookbooks, cooking tools/utensils, and odds and ends from different places around the world. While in the kitchen, I overheard a lady explaining how the owner of the home was a pretty well-known cook/baker around here, which explained the surplus of kitchenwares. It also appeared as though this woman liked to travel and host dinner parties or entertain. She had quite the collection of table settings.

01 - ¡Delicioso! Cooking South Texas Style - A cookbook with an ode to South Texas; I noticed she had quite a few cookbooks from different regions in the US and other countries. The recipe below caught my attention while fanning through the pages:

02 - Portuguese baking apron - This has to be my favorite find; the hand-stitching really brings it home for me. Not to mention how bright + vivid it is, the photos really do not do it justice! A quick search on google and I’m finding this apron to be a common souvenir brought back from Portugal the 1970s.

03 - Silk scarves - Probably the most common item I snag at estate sales. They are typically very well cared for and in great condition. The Hermes style scarf has a tag with “made in Italy” on it, I plan on keeping this one. The polka dot one is for Momma J; she loves polka dots!

04 - Sheer + Gold embroidered tablecloth & napkins - This was such a steal, 10 pc dinner napkins + an extra long tablecloth for $4! This will be great for entertaining during Christmas time!

05 - Leopard Buckle Belt - Not only could this lady cook but she also had style! Fell in love with this statement piece! I actually found it still for sale online!

06 - Persian-inspired forest green rug - This guy is sitting perfectly under the kitchen sink and adds just as much style as comfort. This rug is thicker than usual and for $8, I had to bring it home! There is no tag on the rug so I’m unsure of the brand or age.

07 - Lavendar silk nighty - This reminded me so much of my late Grandma June, she always wore nighties! Thought I might as well have one for myself.

Until next time,

XX, Riss
